NANOWRIMO 2019 – Committed!

Hi all!

It’s official! I’ve committed to National Novel Writing Month 2019. Although for me it will be National Novella writing month!

If you’re looking for a writing buddy – I go by Blockade23. You’re welcome to friend me and we can work together! NaNoWriMo is a little over a month away, but I actually want to go into this planned out.

Plan: A Brief History of the Colonies in New Caesaria.

Word Count: 25-30,000 Words

Format: History Book Style, with a ‘narrator/researcher (maybe Dannelus Ottalinus will make a return?) featuring anywhere between 20-30 entries featuring the known history of the colonies.

Themes: I’m really looking to set up the interplay and different methodology of a hypothetical colonization of the eastern Caesarian (American) seaboard. Given that Rome traditionally looked to integrate local customs with their own religious pantheon, this is some fertile and interesting ground to plow. I’m also excited for the possible storylines that this can easily connect to from the main Steam Empire Chronicles line.

Possible ideas: Everything from the first landings to the first possible settlements, interactions with the native tribes, modification of Roman customs in the colonies and the potential challenges of a non-slave holding colony attempting to establish itself (considering the complete elimination of slavery in the empire roughly 50-75 years before the events in the main series.) I’d also love to hash out how the Empire deals with powerful political forces such as the Mayan, Aztec, Iroquois Confederation, etc.

Thoughts? Ideas? I’d love for some ideas from you guys!

  1. Your novella sounds really cool! I had to look at your Steam Empire Chronicles and they look interesting too. I’m not allowed to get more books until I read the ten or so I have sitting around but I added your first book to my ‘to read’ list on Good Reads so I don’t forget about it.

I sent you a buddy request on the NaNoWriMo site; my name is VanillaCoke. This year I think I’m going to try and exceed 50k words but we’ll see whether I’m successful or not.

    1. Well hey I always recommend reading my novels – but i understand the reading the books you have first too rule. Let me know what you think when you read them!

I’ll definitely go and add you to my writing group circle or whatever on the site!
