New Novella in the works – The Last Gladiator

Explore an excerpt from my new novella “The Last Gladiator”

Hi all,05-Escape-of-Corbus

I wanted to share the first page excerpt from my latest novella, the Last Gladiator. Focusing on a much smaller part of the world, it details the story of Master Ilyensio Horatio, master of the Ludus Magnus, one of the last training compounds for human gladiators in an era when the mechagladiators are about to dominate the colliseum. C&C always appreciated, let me know what you think! The goal for this is roughly 10-12,000 words, as I’d love to start getting some more novellas out this year and next with the eventual goal of creating that print anthology to accompany the Steam Empire Chronicle series.

Book Signing – September 14th at Maryland Renaissance Festival!

I’m excited to share big news! I’ve been able to secure my first ever book signing at Page After Page – the bookstore at the Maryland Renaissance festival – on Saturday September 14th, 2019. https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/p200x200/38901799_1524838824329348_5684076907709071360_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&_nc_oc=AQk9PbHBvnsmlxkR1KgLdSiydpkIEOdM0eDOB2UCxAAL_hnDbJRhlohnN2KXsLDBP9c&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-1.xx&oh=8c64e90a1ea93e627b2b6c4b148d7884&oe=5D7DA12B

After reaching out to the owners (Thanks to my friend Karla and fiancee Sabrina for making it happen!), I was fortunate to be offered the chance to sign some of my books! So if you’re in the Delmarva Area and want your book signed (or want to buy a book there and get it signed) I’ll be around from 11-5 (give or take however long it takes me to go get a giant turkey leg to nibble upon.).

I’ll also be excited to reveal the new paperback edition of Laurel Emperor, which will hopefully go on sale the same day! Talk about big news!

Book Signing Perhaps?

A wild book signing event has appeared!

Hi everyone!

Exciting news is in the works as I have my first book signing event in progress. I’ll release more details later, but it’s an exciting moment for me!

Tired

A poem on life at this second.

Tired

By D. Ottalini

Tiredness is the smell of morning coffee / Alertness is the feel of warm sheets.  / We’d all come to find that life is lovely / If we spent a moment to actually live life / To breathe / to feel / to wonder / to marvel / to let go / to murmur when others yell / and scream when no one hears but the frigid night / We’d all find life is lovely  if only we bothered to live it

at all.

Have you turned off your Internet today?

Turning off your internet for a day or a week – what will you accomplish?

Howdy folks,

I wanted to talk briefly today about something I think we could all use.

A day / week / month without internet.

Roman Colonies in the New World “What If?”

What if Rome had managed to push out colonies in the New World? I explore how the Roman Empire in the Steam Empire Chronicles has established colonies in Nova Caesaria.

Otherwise called…where would the Romans actually have settled in the New World?

As I discussed in my previous post a long ago post, the Empire (in reality) could have funded some colonies in the new world if the right set of circumstances had existed. But where would they have settled? What does the new world look like in the world of the Steam Empire Chronicles?

Any Writing is Good Writing – Right?

Any writing is good – even if it’s for D&D, right?

Random thought of today – Any writing is good writing, right? (write?)

I’m joining a D&D campaign later this month, and after being provided a hefty dose of world building (Thanks DM!) I ended up writing about 4-5 paragraphs about my character. Pretty fun, and I realized how much I actually missed writing. I don’t suppose anyone would like to read my tentative background here, but if you are, leave a comment below and I’ll be glad to post it.

Greetings all, especially to those who have come to my humble blog to read this! The following is a guest post by Phoebe Darqueling, a fellow steampunk author who I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with over several book tours and write-a-thons. Check out her recent release – Riftmaker – out on February 14th!

As for me, I’ll enjoy reading the post as well.  Continue reading “How Writing Saved My Life – A guest post by Phoebe Darqueling”
