Interview with a Senator

Read the interview with Senatora Octavia Pelia!

Salve readers of the Constantinople Courier!

Coming to you from an undisclosed location deep in the hillsides of Thrace, I’ve traveled to meet a very key person in our on-going efforts against the traitorous uncle of our beloved Primus Imperio Constantine Tiberius Appius. We’ve got a lovely one-on-one interview with up-and-coming Senator… Excuse me, Senatora Octavia Pelia. Thanks so much for agreeing to this quick chat.

Octavia: You’re most welcome. Anything for the Primus Imperio.

D.O.: So you’re only doing this because the Primus asked you to?

Octavia: I’m busy running resistance cells all across Italia and the Illyrian coast. Do you think I’d really make time for this if I wanted to? Whatever the Primus asks for, politely, I’ll make myself available to do.

D.O.: Word is your relationship with him is beyond sheer professional. Rumor has it that he’s been to visit you several times in the last few weeks.

Octavia: (Laughing) Oh, we’re just good friends. Besides, we do discuss important events, like, say, the war. The Primus has far more important things to do that attempt to woo me.

D.O: But still, you cannot deny that your history is closely intertwined with his…

Octavia (Waves hand away) Perhaps. He is an incredibly kind and loyal man to his friends. I’ve been fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of that loyalty several times. I can only add that he has my complete loyalty in return.

D.O.: Ah, I see. Turning to the war now, as you mentioned, the Primus does have more important things, like this invasion force headed by the diabolical General Minnicus. Any hint on what our loyalist forces will do to stop this rampaging army?

Octavia: Well, seeing as I cannot give away state secrets, I can neither confirm nor deny any of our plans. Fear not, we have a plan and will execute it to perfection. Our soldiers are the finest and best equipped in the world, and we will soon make short work of the traitors with the backing of all our citizens.

D.O: That’s wonderful to hear. Oh, it appears your security has entered…

Octavia: We’ll have to cut this meeting short.

D.O: Of course, any comment as to why?

Octavia: I recommend getting out of the city. Immediately. (Turns and is escorted out)

D.O: Well there you go, fellow Romans. A telling interview with one of the most critical minds in the war. This is Dannelus Ottalinus, signing out!
