Joining the pursuit – National Novel Writing Month!

I’m joining National Novel Writing Month! Follow along with my progress!


Hi Everyone,

In an effort to get myself motivated and join up with some wonderfully like-minded people, I’m participating in National Novel Writing Month this year. I will be writing Steel Praetorian, novel number four of the Steam Empire Chronicles. Obviously, the novel will not be merely 50,000 words long, but around 90,000 words. *roughly the same size as Iron Tribune*

So what does that mean for me? Instead of writing a mere 1,600 words per night, I have to write about 3,000 words per night. Doable, just tricky! But with your support and backing I think it will be awesome! Here’s the link so you can follow me, check my progress, etc etc.

Finalizing Iron Tribune + A Kickstarter Update

Iron Tribune Updates Plus a Kickstarter Illustration Reveal!


Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in posting but I wanted to have a lot to share! Below you’ll find a sample illustration and the final cover and back cover illustration/artwork. I’m really excited to share these with you. Kickstarter backers have access to almost all of the illustrations as well, which come as a perk of being a backer!

With these done, and the maps being finalized, all that remains is for me to double check all the formatting and illustration locations, receive the final files and upload them to the Amazon, B+N, and Smashwords book sites. With that done, I can order proof and final copy print books and prepare to send them out to all my backers and then place them up for general sale! Without further ado, here’s the illustrations.

Oh, and did I mention there’s a good chance I’ll be getting The Steam Empire Chronicles translated into a different language? I’m in negotiation with a company to license and distribute my book in Portuguese. We’ll see where it goes, but I’m excited to explore this opportunity!

Screaming his rage and frustration, Odiscus battered his sword down onto the Quadi shieldwall. Once, twice, and the shield cracked, falling apart in his opponent’s hand. Speartips flashed past him, the murderous metal wet with blood and rain. Odiscus slammed his sword down one final time, burying it in his enemy’s shoulder. The man cried out, spinning away from him. Bastard! He thought as his sword tumbled away from him, still embedded in the barbarian’s shoulder.

Iron Tribute Option 2

And since every dollar raised goes to adding illustrations, you get the benefit of the ‘stretch’ goals regardless of pledge level. The cost of an illustration for the book is roughly $100-125 per illustration depending on various things, so the money will net me around 5-6 illustrations and maps with support for the formatting. Otherwise, it looks like we’ll reach our goal comfortably this go around!

In other news, they’ll be a new post for The Border on Monday for those interested 🙂 What do people think about the series so far? I’ve been tempted to turn it into a novella, but I’d love to hear some criteria on it beforehand. You can read part 1 here.
